Matt Blamey – Lacrosse Director

Matt Blamey is the current head coach of the Northern Virginia Community College Men’s lacrosse program. Prior to Northern Virginia Community College Blamey coached at South Lakes High School, where he was the head varsity lacrosse coach for the last six years. Growing up playing defense in Northern Virginia, Blamey earned multiple MVP honors as a captain for the Gar-Field high school lacrosse team. Blamey was selected First Team All-Conference three of his four years on Varsity, a two-time Virginia Commonwealth Games starter, and an All-Met nominee his senior year. After graduating in 1996, Blamey continued his playing career as a defender and long-stick midfielder with the University of Mary Washington. Blamey was recognized twice as the Liberty District Coach of the Year (’06 & ‘08) while with the South Lakes program. Most recently, Blamey had the honor of coaching South Lakes High School’s first-ever US Lacrosse High School All-America selection in 2009.
Karl Gibbons – Soccer Trainer

Karl Gibbons began playing soccer at the age of 8 for Youth clubs in Puerto Viejo, Costa Rica. He played High School soccer in Vilseck, Germany and went on to play Div. 3 Soccer at Norwich University in Vermont. He later transferred to Hartwick College in New York on a full athletic scholarship to play for their Div. 1 soccer program. After college, he moved to Germany and played semi-pro soccer. He currently holds a USSF ‘C’ License and a National GK license. He coaches/trains for VYSA ODP Academy, Head Coach for PWSI Courage U11 Boys, and trainer for the Chantilly Firecats Girls U15 Div 1, Region 1 team and brings a wealth of experience to SNF Academy.
Jessica McClendon – Volleyball Director

Jessica McClendon brings over 18 years of volleyball experience to SNF Academy. McClendon is a local product out of Osbourn Park High School. While with the Yellowjackets, Coach McClendon won several awards, including the coaches award, most improved player and most valuable player. She led the team to three straight district championships as the starting setter. After graduating from Osbourn Park, McClendon continued her playing career with NCAA Div II West Virginia Wesleyan College. Once returning to Northern Virginia, Coach McClendon began her coaching career at WT Woodson High School with the JV and Freshman girls programs. McClendon continues to play today and has over 8 years of experience playing USAV Women’s A/AA volleyball.
